Structural Design Specialist / Engineer
Job Title: Structural Design Specialist / Engineer
Department: Structural Engineering
Reports To: Structural Team Leader
FLSA Status: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, conducts, and coordinates the various phases of structural engineering work for assigned projects. Performs work which involves conventional structural engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features. Work requires a broad knowledge of concrete, steel, and masonry design, and a good working knowledge of food processing and food distribution facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be an effective communicator with client, design team, and contractors in resolving and maintaining project
- Works independently and is technically capable of providing detailed structural calculations and specifications.
- Evaluates and recommends most design philosophies for project and determines engineering systems to be provided to meet the project program and client needs.
- Develop structural analyses with RISA, RAM and/or similar structural design software.
- Can clearly outline design alternatives and provide summary of associated benefits/concerns.
- Works with other engineers and designers that may be assigned to the project team within the same
- Researches and applies code requirements in design including all necessary contacts with the appropriate local officials to ensure proper code
- Prepares most project specifications. Prepares addenda and bulletins to correct/clarify/alter contract documents when
- Responsible for review of project submittals and shop
- Conducts site surveys to determine conformance with design intent during construction and to evaluate existing conditions during design. Prepares reports to document surveys.
- Evaluates and responds to field questions and interprets drawing and specification conflicts; evaluates contractor alternates during bidding and construction. Makes recommendations for the resolution of
- Evaluates, advises, and implements improvements to project delivery system including design procedures, construction materials, standard designs,
- May assist the Structural Team Leader in training other engineers and designers on technical related
- Must be familiar with the capabilities and limitations of Revit and AutoCAD
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering is required at a minimum
- Possess five (5) years, or more, of structural engineering experience.
- Proficient with RISA, RAM and/or similar structural design software. Must have the ability to become proficient in RISA and RAM
- Basic/essential level proficiency in Revit (latest version preferred)
- Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel.
- Possesses discipline specific knowledge of regulatory agency guidelines including USDA, FDA, PMO, 3A standards, HACCP, and related issues is a plus, but not required
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification required
- Being a Registered Professional Engineer is a plus, but not a requirement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / LOCATION:
- Remote work arrangements that do not require relocation will be considered.
- The position will require occasional in-person engagement by working in our Lancaster, PA office.
- The position will also require travel to client job sites.
JOB LENGTH: Full Time
TRAVEL: Our firm provides services throughout the United States and occasionally other countries. Occasional travel (initial site investigations, construction observations, etc.) will be required depending on project scope

Structural Design Intern

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Support basic design in steel and concrete structures.
- Support preparation of drawings and sketches based on design direction from senior staff.
- Communicate and coordinate project work with other engineering disciplines.
- Review and reply to shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs
- Potentially accompany senior staff on site visits to assist with observations of existing conditions or verify adherence to structural design.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 to 4 years in an Architectural or Civil Engineering (Structural Option) Major
- Basic/essential level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (latest version preferred)
- Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel.
- Experience with structural analysis software is a plus, but not required.

Electrical Design Intern

Process Design
We are seeking process designers to join our team. The successful candidate shall possess an Associates or a BS degree in Mechanical or Biological Engineering. Experience with designing / engineering food processing operations would be a plus.

- Work as part of a project team to facilitate all aspects of Process Design from conceptual through final design and provide construction support services.

- Have knowledge of compliance requirements and industry standards associated with food processing
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and have strong oral and written communications skills

Senior Refrigeration Engineer / Design Specialist
Position Summary:
This position has responsibility to plan, schedule, conduct / coordinate detailed phases of engineering work for assigned projects; perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features. Work requires a broad knowledge of engineering all types of refrigeration systems used in food processing and storage, along with knowledge of refrigeration system controls.
This position also requires a detailed knowledge of, and development of OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Plans related to ammonia systems. This includes conducting Hazard Analysis and Compliance Audits.
Position Requirements:
- Must be an effective communicator with client, design team, and contractors in resolving and maintaining project direction.
- Work independently and is technically capable of providing the most detailed calculations and specifications required to develop and define refrigeration systems and layouts.
- Evaluate and recommend most refrigeration design philosophies for projects and determine engineering systems to be provided to meet the project program and client needs.
- Direct work efforts of other engineers and designers
- Research and apply code requirements and IIAR design standards in design including all necessary contacts with the appropriate local officials to ensure proper code compliance.
- Prepare project specifications.
- Responsible for review of project submittals and shop drawings.
- Conduct site surveys to determine conformance with design intent during construction and to evaluate existing refrigeration system conditions during design.
- Evaluate and respond to field questions; evaluate contractor alternates during bidding and construction. Makes recommendations for the resolution of conflicts.
- May assist the Discipline Leader in training other engineers and designers on technical related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred) plus appropriate continuing education. Ten (10) years or more of related technical experience in industrial refrigeration design.
- Must be familiar with the capabilities and limitations of Revit and AutoCAD
- Must possess discipline-related knowledge of regulatory agency guidelines including IIAR standards, OSHA’s PSM and the EPA’s RMP.
- Must be experienced in working with Windows programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel as well as discipline specific programs.
Work Environment / Location:
