Non-disclosed Juice Manufacturer
Ingredient Batch Operation Upgrade
THE CHALLENGE
Our creative design allowed the client to re-purpose an existing process area into a new ingredient batching space that eliminated the need for mezzanines. Our design automated the juice batching which reduced product waste and increased production.
Our client realized their existing ingredients batch process was difficult to maintain and ergonomically challenging to operate, often times resulting in inconsistent batch mixes.
Our design team’s scope of work was to develop an automated batching system with better quality control, more access to the equipment for cleaning and a more ergonomically friendly workspace while increasing their product capacity. The new ingredient blend operation provided a better consistency going to pasteurizing. The design utilized a mix proof valve cluster and mass flow meters for liquid batching. An eductor was used for powders and minor liquids, allowing the staff to remain on the main floor. Automating the operation substantially improved the efficiency and reduced batch waste problems from their manual operation.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Modifications to workspace allowed for ergonomic handling of bulk ingredients on ground level.
- Upgraded flow systems allowed two batching units to supply several process lines.
- Modified existing electrical system to accommodate new process equipment.
- Cost savings achieved by substantially reducing quality control problems in batch mixing consistencies.
- Delivered a fully integrated ingredient process system.
